Behind the Rocky Mountain Vizsla Blanket

and these also come in a baby blanket size!

Ridgeback and Weimaraner sweaters now available!
Ridgeback and Weimaraner sizes are now available in shop for knitted wool sweaters. I just dropped a limited number of these larger sized sweaters able to accommodate these larger chested breeds in my most popular colors- Forest Green, Oat, and Navy. These sweaters are hand knitted wool, thick and super luxurious. They're perfect for seniors who get cold indoors in the winter, as well as the outdoors as temperatures drop. I promise you will not find better fitting sweaters on the market, and with a very limited number, and an exceedingly long lead time (it takes min half a year to get these in!), get yours while they're here!

Canada Post Strike, upcoming tariffs, life
I wish I could write about better news but fresh off losing my only vehicle to an accident, I'm looking at several hurdles with shipping. If you're interested or waiting for an order, please read further,
New Threatened Tariffs
You may have heard but as part of his negotiation tactic, Trump has threatened China with an additional 100% tariffs but then has backtalked his remarks saying it "wasn't sustainable". However the threats are still in place ready for negotiations at the end of the month. Several of my products are made in China including the blankets, stuffies, and the new knitted sweaters. I've been sourcing all over but with my tiny numbers and limited budget there really isn't another option and everything was ordered or in production before the Trump presidency. At the moment, I'm stuck with my current stock sitting at home but wanted to keep you updated. If you're thinking about ordering any of these items, please do so asap!
Canada Post Strike
To keep my life challenging, Canada Post went on strike on Sept 25th. This meant having to switch carriers and with the new end of deminimus (tariff free shipping) to the US plus new tariffs that carriers are struggling to keep up with, this has been extremely difficult to work through. I've spent countless hours on documents, research, on tech support trying to gather all the information for all my products so I can ship to the US. Thankfully the Canada Post Strike just shifted to rotating strikes (meaning some are back to work and mail can move again abit slowly and unreliably) so this leaves me another avenue to ship once again. Canada Post is the only way I can ship to rural areas in Canada as well as some countries.

Car Accident
On the way back from my last backcountry camp trip, I rolled my car. Thankfully we are all safe but my car is a write-off and I'm currently in the process of purchasing another. This is my only car and as I live alone, I will need to replace it in order to drive orders into post. It's already in the process, but this just means another short delay in getting orders out.
Thanks so much for all your patience and support during this time!
Canada-> US Tariff Hold for Shipping
Key Points
- Tariffs into the US has been a hot topic with many last minute changes and exceptions. Until now I've mostly been able to avoid tariffs shipping from my shop into the US. Tariffs are applied by the country of import, and EU customers have always had to pay a tariff.
-
De Minimus (Section 321/Duty Free) Entry into U.S. is suspended as of Aug 29, 2025 . July 30th, a new Executive Order was published declaring the suspension of Duty-Free De Minimis treatment for all countries, as of midnight, Friday August 29, 2025. This means ALL regular personal mail shipments into the US from other countries will have a tariff on them. Barring any changes, this means the last crossing with Section 321 shipments will be Thursday, August 28.
- After that, Trump as indicated a 35% tariff will apply as well as any other fees the postal service may charge. As a small one-person business, I might be holding all orders for up to ONE MONTH after August 25th until I can see what is happening with shipments into the US. I can ship anytime if you're ok with paying the incoming tariffs and brokerage and mention so.
- I'm aware of CUSMA but there is no clear details on how paperwork may be provided and I'm a tiny one-woman business. I'll be looking into options once I know what the border situation looks like in a couple weeks.
- There are hopes that the tariff amount will be reduced, but currently USPS and Canada Post are not clear between each other about how Duties may be paid either from Sender or Recipient and packages are randomly being sent back.
- If you're able to pick up from a friend or mailbox in Canada, please consider things!
- Thank you for understanding while this happens, thank you for your support, and I really hope we'll be back to shipping drama-free!
Canada Post Strike
On November 15 2024, Canada Post announced a National Strike and began strike activity. What this means is that all post currently in the system is paused and no new packages will be accepted. Since my shop (and my home) is rural, I ship most of my post via Canada Post and this has been a large burden. I can still ship out to most locations (rural Canadian addresses will have no other options) including the US but there may be more of a delay getting orders out. I need to drive into the city center (about an hour away) in order to drop off orders and cannot do this more than a couple times a week depending on volume (and life). Please message me should you have any questions at all about this!
PLACES I CANNOT SHIP TO while the strike is ongoing
Rural Canadian addresses may not be possible. I'll contact you if this happens. International countries may be limited. I CAN ship to USA/UK/Germany/Australia/NZ but many others may not be currently possible. I will shop around to see if I can find an affordable method but if it's not possible, I'll contact you.
ORDERS IN TRANSIT
Orders that were mailed out right before the strike could be stuck in transit. If this is you, I'll keep an eye on your package, but please contact me if you would like me to ship out a second package with alternative methods. I'll be contacting everyone if the strike lasts more than 2 weeks.
Upland Birds throw featuring my own Vizsla
Introducing the Upland Birds throw featuring my own Vizsla Bourbon. I designed this cozy blanket and drew all the different plants and birds in the Pacific Northwest that we hike and hunt in. It's the perfect Vizsla blanket to cuddle in on cold rainy days and is machine washable with a thick luxurious false fur.

Featuring grouse, quail, Hungarian partridge, blackberry flowers, sage, fiddleheads, alpine daisy, yarrow, thimbleberry and more! These are all personal to our landscape and mean so much to me. They're where my Vizslas walk and enjoy the land and it was so meaningful to illustrate and create this blanket for myself and others. Everything is drawn and patterned by myself so it really took awhile to put this into production, I hope you love the blanket as much as my Vizslas do!

Vizsla Stuffed Toy made by a Vizsla lover
It's here!! Finally a Vizsla plushie made by someone who really loves the breed. Introducing the Whiskey stuffed toy for all Vizsla lovers and owners. Based on my own girl, my heart dog Whiskey, I've put everything I know and love about my girl into this. At a small size, about 8 inches tall and 11 inches long, this Vizsla plushie is great for presents and children over 3 years old.

I also tested it against CCPSA (Canadian) standards and ship everything directly out of my home (Whiskey is my quality control officer although she tends to sleep on the job).

Unfortunately due to European laws and other regulations I cannot afford to certify for every standard so I cannot ship to every country (Currently the Vizsla plushie is shipping to US and Canada). If sales go well, I might be able to make another batch and test for more standards in the future.

The Best Dog Sweaters from Bravehound
The only North American shop selling Bravehound Dog sweaters right here! And free shipping with every order to the US and Canada. These elegant wool sweaters are knitted to fit a slimmer athletic dog in XS, S, M, L and XL. These will fit a large variety of dogs with full sizing here.
The Bravehound sweaters are also sold alongside the Bravehound technical vests. These Bravehound jackets called the "technical gilet" are more streamlined for the moving dog. The chest panels will not snag, but the body is still covered in wool and will keep the dog very warm.
The Bravehound Dog sweaters will fit many dog breeds including Vizslas, Dalmatians, Weimaraners, German Shorthaired Pointers, Wirehaired Pointers, smaller Ridgebacks, larger Spaniels, English Pointers, Airedale Terrier and many other breeds.
Bravehound sweaters can vests can be washed in the washing machine and will last for long beyond mass produced sweaters.
Bravehound dog sweaters in many colors. Malachite will not be stocked anymore, and forest green is the all time best-seller.
These sweaters are great for older dogs and will stay in place no matter how they move. I've gotten emails saying older dogs with joint paint and arthritis benefit from daily wear in the winter.
The newest color is the dark grey color IRON.
With slightly less sizing and demands better measuring for your dog (there is less forgiving in the stretch) the technical gilet is a structural marvel on dogs. These are perfectly cut for dogs like this.
